matt quintana

Matt Quintana is entering his first year as a pitching instructor for Swanson baseball. He is coming off his second professional season as a pitcher. He started the year off on the Joliet Slammers in the Frontier League and finished the year with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League after being traded. Over the season he pitched a total of 109.2 innings, had 124 strike outs, went 8-3 and posted a 3.12 ERA.

Previously he has played for the Bridgeport Bluefish and New Britain Bees of the Atlantic Professional Baseball League. He also played in the Empire League with the Puerto Rico Islanders where he was awarded Pitcher of the Year after posting a 1.39 ERA and going 7-0 in 51.2 innings.

Matt is from West Simsbury and attended Simsbury High School where he graduated in 2011. He pitched for the Trojans for 4 years and after his senior year he was named to the All-Conference Team. Prior to his professional career, Coach Quintana attended Division 1 Siena College where he was both a starter and reliever. As a Junior he appeared in a school record 28 games. After his Senior season he was named to ABCA/Rawlings All Region Second Team. Over the 4 years he appeared in 82 games where he pitched 172 innings. His overall record was 12-6 and he posted a 3.31 ERA.

Matt also played Collegiate summer ball in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League with the Torrington Titans in 2013 and Martha’s Vineyard Sharks in 2014. After his summer with Martha’s Vineyard he was awarded Pitcher of the Year as well as being named by Perfect Game to the Third Team Summer Collegiate All American team.

He currently lives in West Hartford.
